Notes: Introduction by J. Frank Dobie. This volume was apparently the first reprinting of Bourke’s memoir/history since its original publication in 1886. As an ethnographer Bourke was friends with Frank Hamilton Cushing, Washington Matthews, John Wesley Powell, Jesse Fewkes, and Frederick W. Hodge.
