Notes: Originally published in 1969 as A History of New Mexican-Plains Indian Relations, Kenner’s revised dissertation. Comancheros (Mexicans who traded with the Comanches) were free to roam the Plains, trading for whatever could be traded, especially guns and ammunition. Taos was a center of trade among the groups (as well as Bent’s Fort in Colorado).
