Notes: Extract from the Forty-Third Annual Report of the Bureau of American Ethnology.  The gift inscription is from Helen H. Roberts.  Roberts (1888-1985) was an anthropologist and ethnomusicologist.  She was a protege of Alfred V. Kidder and Franz Boas.  She worked on recordings of California Indian songs made by John P. Harrington in 1916 and 1917 (see citation link) and transcribed them in 1921.  In this volume there are 11 Picuris songs, with an analysis attribution to Roberts.
