Notes: Between 1877 and 1880 Victorio was among the most successful, most feared Apache leaders. The principle author (the narrator), Kaywaykla, was among the last of Geronimo’s Warm Springs companions. From the freedom of their homeland to the prison of Florida, Kaywaykla and Ball have arguably created a Native American classic.
