Notes: Facsimile Edition.  Reproduction of “History of the Indian Tribes of the United States: Their Present Condition and Prospects, and a Sketch of Their Ancient Status”  published in 6 volumes between 1851-1857, by J.B. Lippincott.  Because this volume, and the originals did not have an index, the best way to read this is with the 1954 BAE volume “Index to Schoolcrafts’s ‘Indian Tribes of the Unites States” (see https://joethebookguy.com/shop/indian/index-to-schoolcrafts-indian-tribes-of-the-united-states/ ) at hand.  There are also a couple of alternatives to this–the Smithsonian series  “Handbook of the North American Indian”  (but you’ll need a bigger shelf), and the University of Oklahoma Press’s “Civilization of the American Indian” series.  This is a big doorstop of a book.  Bring a small boy to help you carry it.
