Notes:  “Originally mimeographed for distribution to Mr. Dobie’s students, this book was later printed in wrappers, only a few being bound in cloth.  It was not for sale, but for free distribution, although a few copies did get upon the shelves of booksellers.  With the same plates lent to the Southern Methodist University Press, a run was made under that imprint.  This book is not a true bibliography, but an excellent check list with comments on many western books, some of which deal with outlaws.” (Six Guns & Saddle Leather, Ramon F. Adams, University of Oklahoma Press, 1954, item number 313).    Also item 314 (ibid): “Guide to life and literature of the southwest.  Revised and enlarged in both knowledge and wisdom…A greatly enlarged edition of the original.”  Signed and inscribed by Dobie on the half-title page, (at?) the Kansas State Teacher’s College–the Dobie archives at the University of Texas list an association with the college from 1954-1957, and the inscription seems to indicate that Dobie and the previous owner had perhaps worked together.  There are NO signed copies of this Dobie title available, either hardcover or paperback, thus RARE.
