Notes: Textbook. You probably should have a basic knowledge of geology for this “introductory survey.” Selley is a petroleum geologist by training. Classifies ancient sediments first (including the Green River basin, and west Texas, among others), then an evaluation of methods of identification. River deposits, wind-blown (western U.S.), lake deposits, deltas, shorelines, shelf deposits, reefs, and flysch, turbidites, and pelagic deposits. My basic knowledge of geology (“That’s a rock”) didn’t cut it here. Very technical.
