Notes: Contribution to Highway Salvage Archaeology in Arizona Number 49.  Salvage projects prior to the renovation of Arizona Highway 188.  “The Reno-Park Creek Project involved highway salvage excavations at five prehistoric sites near Punkin Center in Tonto Basin, an archaeologically important but poorly documented area of east-central Arizona.  The Treat site, Az. U:3:33 (ASM), was apparently a moderate sized village occupied between about A.D. 800 and 1000.  It has furnished the first reported evidence of occupation of Tonto Basin during the local equivalent of the Hohokam Sacaton phase (A.D. 900-1100).  all of the other four sites are Salado-affiliated, probably dating between A.D. 1150 and 1300.”  (From the Abstract)
