Copy 2 (LOA23): Fair. Stapled binding tight. No tears, bends or folds. One very small spot on mid-front cover. One portion of a circle–someone put a glass or bottle down–on lower rear cover. Notes: “The Sierra County Rio Grande Project consisted of two related efforts: first, a reconnaissance survey of archaeology sites, reported here; and second, historical studies of Apache and early Hispanic settlement in Sierra County, to provide hunter-gatherer and subsistence agriculture baselines for thinking about those sites.” (From the Introduction). “THIS SURVEY DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN INVENTORY, EITHER OF THE VALLEY AS A WHOLE, OR THE AREAS ACTUALLY VISITED.” (Page 14). All archaeological locations are described only, with locations hidden from public view, except through the State Historic Preservation Office. I imagine there must have been some discussion about the orientation of the front cover image–the Rio Grande doesn’t run east to west in Sierra County, but the image makes it appear so. RARE. These are the only copies I can find available for sale.
