Notes: I think the previous owner(s?) of this book read about the first twenty pages and went on to something else. Nothing against the authors, more a comment about the previous owner(s). For a state this big, the topics have to be pretty wide-ranging and much more general than specific. “In California…prehistory began perhaps as early as 30,000 years ago and came to an end only in 1539 when Europeans recorded their first impressions of California in writing. The archaeological record indicates that California’s prehistoric occupations reach farther back in time than those of almost any other part of the Americas.” (From the Introduction). Well illustrated. Maps, charts, drawings, diagrams, photos. Probably meant as an undergraduate text.
