Notes: Pamphlet.  Offprint.  Originally published by Academic Press as Chapter 2 in  The Casper Site: A Hell Gap Bison Kill on the High Plains (Frison, ed. 1974.)  Examination of 121 complete or partial bison mandibles, and 19 other animal mandibles.  Of the 140 mandibles, 74 were cows, juveniles and calves.  Approximately 100 separate animals may have been killed at the site.  “At this point the argument is simply that a series of kills may have temporarily reduced bison in an area to below the critical numbers necessary for successful communal hunts, and human population distributions would have had to be adjusted accordingly.”  (Page 124).  VERY RARE.  No other copies available for sale.
