Notes:  An archaeological reconnaissance and salvage operations on this 830 acre block were conducted in the 1970’s and 1980’s.  In 1994, prior to the mine’s expansion the new survey was conducted on foot.  56 sites (6 previously recorded, 50 “new”) and 286 isolated finds were recorded and documented.  “Surface indications suggest that Preclassic sites are even more common than the abundant Classic period sites in the area, and that villages of similar scale are present.  A second major finding was the discovery of extensive nonirrigated agricultural fields, characterized by numerous rock piles and other features, that appear to have been an important aspect of Hohokam subsistence in the area.”  (From the Abstract)
