Notes: Pamphlet.  Offprint.  Originally published in the magazine Intercambio, August 1961.  Marine archaeology.  “The third expedition to Quintana Roo of the (C.E.D.A.M.), in July of 1961, had as its main objective, a preliminary reconnaissance of the Cayos Chinchorro, or Chinchorro Reefs, out in the Caribbean at the southern extremity of Mexican territory, and incidentally, to make contact with the more southerly part of the Quintana Roo coast, which CEDAM had not formerly penetrated.  The Cayos Chincharros are reputed to form the second largest coral atoll in the world, though it is not very clear which is the first in this respect.  They have for long been known as extremely dangerous to shipping and it is accepted that they have been a sort of cemetery of foundered vessels since the early 16th century when international navigation commenced in the region.” (page 23).  Bilingual, Spanish pages first, photographs, then English pages.   This has a very Travis McGee/treasure hunter vibe to it.  Easy read.  VERY RARE.  NO other copies available for sale, and held in only 3 libraries.
