Condition: Fair.  Stapled binding tight.  No marks, tears.  Both upper and lower front corners at spine are bent, bottom corner has an approx. 1/2″ bend that extends through entire volume, upper corner has an approx. 1″ bend that also extends through entire volume.   Recto edge near upper front cover corner has an approx. 2″ crease.  Wrinkling to spine edge.

Notes: Pamphlet.  Offprint.  Copy of a speech given by Harrington at the annual meeting of the American Association for State and Local History in 1953.  Originally published in Indiana Magazine of History, Vol. XLIX, No. 1, March, 1953.  Bulletins of the American Association for State and Local History, Volume II, Number 6.  Harrington, at the time an archaeologist for the National Park Service, describes the archaeological work at Fort Raleigh on Roanoke Island, North Carolina, and argues for closer integration of history and archaeology, historians and archaeologists.  Historians should have some interest/acquaintance with archaeological methods and techniques, and archaeologists some background in history.   Not to be confused with John Peabody Harrington
