Condition: Fair.  Binding tight but worn at head and foot.  Front cover corner at spine head has an approx. 1/8″ tear, upper rear cover corner at spine head has an approx. 1/2″ tear.  Lower rear cover at spine foot has an approx.1/2″ tear.  There’s wear, some chipping, small tears to all corners and edges.  And more than half the text pages are uncut.  Pages 23-26 (uncut) have an approx. 1″ tear along upper edge.  Pages 27-30 have an approx. 1″ L-shaped tear along upper edge.  Previous owner (?) really chewed  the edges of pages 27-30 ragged, chipped.   First previous owner’s signature in pencil on upper front cover corner.

Notes: Booklet as much as a pamphlet.  Smithsonian Miscellaneous Collections Volume 103, Number 4.  “Heavy erosion of the gully banks in recent years exposed deposits of alluvium and sporadic concentrations of animal bones including mammoth, bison, and deer as well as other smaller mammals, mainly of the Rodentia.  Stone implements recurring near some of those outcroppings indicated that aboriginal hunters had been active in the area and suggested that both former camping places and associations between man made objects and extinct species of animals could be found there.” (Page 2).  From the libraries of the late archaeologists Paul Reiter (his signature) and Linda Cordell.
