Notes: Pamphlet. Offprint. Middle American Research Institute Publication 26. The Chinkultic ruins were first described by the German archaeologist Eduard Seler, who visited them in 1895. Frans Blom and Oliver LaFarge stopped at Chinkultic in 1925, made a sketch map and described carved limestone stelae. This expedition, in 1966, was designed to make aerial, terrestrial, and underwater surveys of the Cenote Agua Azul and the Lake Montebello areas Illustrated with maps, drawings, and photographs. de Borhegyi was killed in a car accident in 1969 and was never able to return to the site.
