Condition: Fair. Comb binding tight. No missing or broken teeth. No folds. Previous owner’s name on upper front cover corner. Two small (approx. 1/4″ chips in front cover (worn, insect damage? Not staple holes). Both upper and lower front cover corners at comb binding are torn. Edge and corner wear. I think the comb binding on this volume may be one of the first uses of this type of binding, since the comb binding and its associated machinery didn’t come into use until early 1950. Some pencil marks in the Table of Contents. Edge and corner wear.
Notes: Anthropological Papers Number 11. “…the entire program focused upon the problems of early man and the many geological, paleontological, climatological and other factors which must be understood and interpreted correctly…” (From the Foreword). Papers and discussion about the climate of the Great Plains, dating, soils and composition, extinction, dating, artifacts, and water. For 1948, these guys seem to have been way ahead of their time.
