Condition: 2 copies.  Copy 1: Fair to Good.  Binding tight.  No marks, tears, bends or folds.  Front cover is slightly wavy (from a too humid environment?).  Light edge and corner wear.  Copy 2:  Fair to Good.  Binding tight.  No tears, bends or folds.  Previous owner’s name in red ink on ffep.  Corner and edge wear.  Smudging to text block.  Scuffing to front and back covers.  These 2 copies are completely different in size–Copy 1 is 7 1/2″ x 9 3/8″, while Copy 2 is 6 7/8″ x 9 3/4″.  Copy 2 is probably part of the first paperback printing, while Copy 1 is from a 2001 (digital) printing.  Exact same text, wider margins on Copy 1.  Copy 1 (newer edition) acquired first.

Notes: The transition from an “acephalous” (i.e. not having a leader, or head) society to a hierarchically organized political structure with institutional leaders.  Hardcover version of this title also available.
