Guide to Protein and Nutritional Values of Plants Used by Native Americans of the Southwest
1 in stock
Author: Hiles, Harold T. (1929-2006)
Pub Date: 1993
Condition: Good. Binding tight. No tears, bends or folds. Signed by the author on title page. Some sunning to spine and spine edges. Light edge and corner wear.
Notes: Incredibly detailed, VERY RARE, often cited, badly edited. A self-published (and undoubtedly self-edited) volume, listing 237 plants’ nutritive values–protein, fat, carbohydrate, and fiber. The poor editing can be distracting–half-sentences, possessives, punctuation. The editing probably shouldn’t call the data into question, just the author/editor. A companion volume An Archaeologist Guide to Native American Use of Southwestern Plants is also available. See https://joethebookguy.com/shop/archaeology/an-archaeologist-guide-to-native-american-use-of-southwestern-plants/ . VERY RARE. If I had to hazard a guess I would say there are probably no more than 50 copies of this in existence. This is not a reading volume, reference only.
