Volume 3: Report of the Final Field Season. Survey and reconnaissance of the San Augustine Coal Area (SACA), approximately 450,000 acres in northern Catron and southern Cibola counties, north of Quemado and south of Fence Lake. Some of the area had previously been explored in the late 1940s by J.O. Brew and E.B. Danson. There appears to be an overlap between Anasazi and Mogollon. 303 archaeological and historical sites were discovered, indicating long and varied periods of use by different groups and tribes.
